Evaluate and Revise: Do you think majority of your students would prefer Traditional or Performance Based Assessment ( such as the electronic portfolio) and why?
I believe that most students would prefer performance based assessment it caters to the different type of learners. we have to be mindful that all students don't learn the same way and so we should not test them the same way. Moreover when it comes to traditional tests some students feel pressured and tend to forget so they don't do as well on the test as they should. Also, students like the fact that they don't need to study.
Belize is developing and becoming a part of this technological era. Our Belizean cultures has developed a love for technology devices and social media. Therefore, with students adapting with the changes I do believe, they would prefer Performance Based Assessment. I agree with the fact that students are allowed to perform a task rather than select an answer from a ready-made list.
I believe that they would prefer Performance Based Assessments due to the fact that students are getting more into technology. therefore if you give students things to do that they have fun doing then they will be no problem or hesitation to do it.
There are some advantages and disadvantages to this technological era. Is it really going to cater to the needs of all our children? Remember there are some children who do not have a computer in their homes or electricity to even plug in that computer. Some are only privy to what takes place around them in their school environment. Although the Performance Based Assessment will be in their favor, it will also only confine them to sitting instead of allowing them to be hands on.
